A good idea is everything
Welcome to my portfolio, I'm Livvie, a graphic designer, a problem solver and most importantly, a big thinker.
Queer Labour Behind
the Label
Editorial Design, Collage
This project was a collaboration between Labour Behind the Label, Rainbow Community Kampuchea (RoCK) , Perempuan Mahardhika, and myself. The zine tells the story of LGBTQIA+ garment workers and uses traditional zine aesthetics to amplify the expression of these workers.
Jiskra Bitters
Brand Identity, UX/UI Design, Packaging
Most bitters on the market have a classic appeal or they may even mimic it. Jiskra Bitters honors the past but does not imitate it. Jiskra funnels inspiration from Czech matchbox designs from the mid century era which were characterised by positivity, cheerfulness and optimism. Inspired by this time, Jiskra looks to take advantage of a bright, new and innovative aesthetic which utilises vibrant colours, simplistic illustrations and bold typography. Each flavour is represented by a simple and recognisable shape characterised bya colourful illustration. The characters on each bottle not only bring life to the brand but also win the hearts of all prospective customers.
The Magdalen Magazine
Brand Identity, Editorial Design
The Magdalen Magazine is the University of Dundee’s student-led magazine. In 2022 I was one of The Magdalen’s Creative Directors.
This meant doing a complete redesign of the magazine with the goal of emphasising the versatility, collaboration and sense of community that are integral to The Magdalen. One of the biggest changes was the decision to collaborate with a new illustrator for each cover, giving way to new talent to be shown off each issue. The collaborative qualities are echoed through the visual identity with united shapes, friendly colours and versatile typography.
Natural Order
Editorial Design, Typography
This publication is an interpretation of Emily Brontë’s novel Wuthering Heights which gained notoriety because of its depiction of heightened emotions, conflict and the chaotic bond shared between it’s central characters. At it’s core Wuthering Heights is a story of passion, cruelty, conflict and eventually, unity and resolution.
Natural Order juxtaposes expressive content such as poetry with literature analysis. This not only gives the reader an intimate understanding of the themes in the book but also instils the reader with the emotional impact that Wuthering Heights evokes. This publication focuses on the commonality among the many themes; natural force. Whether in the form of supernatural events, ruthless weather conditions, heightened emotion, environment or unity, natural force is what drives the book and eventually brings things back to Natural Order.
Glasgow Zine Library September Calendar
Calendar, Social Media
I designed the September calendar and story templates for GZL to the themes of games and play. I took inspiration from rave flyers and the design features illustrations of toys, amusement park rides, smiling faces and cats to give an energetic and fun feeling all round. The fluorescent colours are also used to give an energetic, vibrant feel to the calander and story templates.
The Laws of Motion
Motion Graphics, 3D Design
This was a project to explore the relationship between arts and science. I chose to explore through the medium of motion graphics because I have always been interested in physics and it's harmonious omnipresence in our everyday lives. The final delivery is three videos which all demonstrate one of the laws of motion.
Do Better
Campaign Design, UX/UI Design.
Fashion should not harm people or the planet but it does. Do Better is a campaign that uses bold typography and direct, relatable language to encourage people to call on fashion brands to do good for people and the planet. The aim of the campaign is to inform the consumers of the issues in the fashion industry and consequently inspire people to fight together by making change approachable. This is done with the accessible format of posters which utilise the language of the fashion industry but satirise it to promote a beneficial cause.
